ICAS 4 (International Conference on Administrative Science)

Politeknik STIA LAN Bandung successfully held the 4th International Conference on Administrative Science (The 4th ICAS) on October 26th, 2022. The central theme of the conference was “administrative reform towards collaborative and digital governance”. Prof Paul Henman as the keynote speaker emphasized on the three principles towards collaborative governance, which included the use of technology, data, and organization and context. By presenting three case studies, Prof Henman highlighted how the utilization of digital technology had benefits and downside for the people.

Through this conference, four panel speakers also shared their insights and experiences on the most-pressing issues on public administration reform and the technology. Dr. Lizan Calina from the Philippines shared about the policies and strategies of the Philippines government in utilizing technology for development. Prof Endang Wirjatmi (Indonesia) highlighted the challenges in the Indonesian electronic-based governance system. Prof. Ahmad Martadha (Universiti Utara Malaysia) presented case studies of smart city in Malaysia, its framework and strategies. While Dr. Sulfikar Amir (NTU Singapore) spoke on the driving factors of Singapore economic development, in which technology played a part on it.

Followed the first session, there are 58 papers that are presented by the participants. These papers include a variety of sub-theme such as digital governance, administrative reform, human resource management, political economy, and development studies. The committee of the 4th ICAS expected that this event would contribute to further research.
